The global investment manager now has a trio of offices in Europe after setting up shop in Madrid.
Federated Hermes said the move “reinforces the firm’s commitment to its European client base, building on its successful expansion within the region so far”.
It comes after Carlos Capela, Iberia business development director, joined the firm last year.
Based in Madrid, he is tasked with driving an engagement plan with clients and prospects in Spain, Portugal and Andorra.
Harriet Steel, head of business development at the international business of Federated Hermes, said: “Interest in responsible investing and sustainable product solutions has continued to rise and, as global leaders in this field, our presence on the ground in Spain allows us to extend our expertise to a wider range of clients.
“The opening of the Spanish office is a natural next step for the firm, given our strong institutional and wholesale client base in the region, and following the appointment of Carlos last year.”
Europe in its sights
Federated Hermes established a presence in Europe last year, with the opening of offices in Germany and Denmark.
It also set up an Irish-domiciled management company, Hermes Fund Managers Ireland, as part of its Brexit mitigation strategy and broader European expansion plans.
