The white label Ucits ETF issuer has passported its thematic exchange traded funds range to France.
HanETF said that some are “firsts” for the European market; highlighting its cloud, space, solar energy and airlines ETFs.
“They also include Europe’s first ETFs with a carbon offset mechanism,” the firm said.
Any fund branded HanZero indicates that it is a “carbon neutral investment”, with the footprint offset “through projects such as the Topaiyo Conservation in Papua New Guinea and the Musi River Hydro Plant in Indonesia”, HanETF said.
The 17 thematic funds are already available on the London Stock Exchange, Borsa Italiana, Six and Deutsche Borse. They are passported into Benelux, the Nordics, Poland and Spain.
The announcement comes weeks after the appointment of Yann Hericotte to the newly created role of head of ETF sales for France.
Highly competitive market
Hector McNeil, co-chief executive of HanETF, said: “France is a large and important ETF market and registering our thematic ETF range there and listing on Euronext Paris will enable French investors to have access to a better choice of exciting thematic and ESG ETFs.
“Due to France being a highly competitive market, led by the domestic banks, we decided to only launch once our brand became better known. Since we listed our first ETF, EMQQ, just over three years we have grown to over $3bn of AUM – making us one of the fastest growing providers in Europe.
“We decided on an initial 17 ETFs but we expect to bring more subjects to demand over time. Gradually we want to be the leading ‘value add’ provider focusing on thematic, smart beta, active and crypto ETPs. As a white label provider, we also expect to add French asset managers who want to use our platform to enter the European ETF market in around 10 weeks.”
