The firm announced in a short statement that Schroder (pictured) died on Wednesday following a short illness.
Schroder joined the company, then known as J Henry Schroder & Co, in November 1960 and served as a director since 1963 when he was appointed to the board to replace his father, Helmut Schroder (1901-1969).
He began his career at Schroders working in the internal audit division, in commercial banking and subsequently in corporate finance. Before that, he undertook national service in the Life Guards and attended Oxford University and the Harvard Business School.
Schroders chair Michael Dobson said: “Bruno made an enormous contribution to Schroders over more than 50 years. He was passionate about Schroders and unwavering in his support for the company. His long experience, good judgement and sense of humour will be sorely missed”.
“On behalf of everyone at Schroders I send our heartfelt condolences to Bruno’s wife and family,” Dobson said.
