Hélie de Cornois (pictured) has joined international family office Stonehage Fleming as director and head of estate planning, a newly created role.

De Cornois joins from Banque Degroof Petercam in Luxembourg where he was head of estate planning and international patrimonial services.

He was also responsible for coordinating international estate planning files for the group and developing private banking in southern Europe, Canada and the UK.

De Cornois joined Banque Degroof Petercam in 2007 and held roles including head of wealth structuring and head of corporate and structured finance in Luxembourg.

He began his career in 2003 at Banque de Gestion Privée Indosuez (now CA Indosuez Wealth) in Paris as an estate planner.

Pandemic prompt

Commenting on the appointment, Jacqui Cheshire, partner and head of family office in Switzerland said: “Continental Europe is a key market for us and so we are pleased to have attracted someone of Hélie’s calibre to bolster our Luxembourg team.”

De Cornois added: “The pandemic prompted many people to reassess their plans and priorities – it was a catalyst to get their affairs in order. This is a growing trend and an ideal opportunity for me to help expand Stonehage Fleming’s existing expertise.”
